Job Description:
Marcum Search has been retained by our growing client in the
building product industry to search for their next Director of
Sales. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and have a high
level of accountability.
Summary
We are a leading North American manufacturer and marketer of a
building envelope portfolio of products seeking a Director of Sales
to lead a market-driven share growth sales strategy. In this role,
you will be responsible for developing a strategy, assuring
strategy execution, meeting revenue budgets, and leading
opportunity pursuit. You will be a member of the Leadership Team
reporting to the COO and working alongside other senior leaders.
You must be a subject matter expert, lead a dynamic sales team,
foster customer relationships, and collaborate with other
departments to ensure effective, cohesive, highly competitive
execution and on-budget revenue generation. If you have a history
of leading on budget, share gain, and inspiring sales and marketing
teams to take market share, you should apply for this role.
Responsibilities
Leadership

Sales Strategy

- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer
needs to identify sales growth opportunities. Make well-informed
and timely decisions.
- Leverage technology to streamline workflows and increase
customer influence.
- Collaborate with marketing, product development, and other
departments to align sales strategies with overall business
objectives.
- Share market feedback with internal teams to foster value
improvement.
Revenue Generation
- Take responsibility for setting and meeting sales and margin
budgets.
- Analyze key performance indicators and decisively respond to
them.
- Lead effective forecasting and pipeline management
processes.
- Anticipate potential risks and then implement strategies that
mitigate them.
- Develop and maintain robust contingency plans that ensure
business continuity.
Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with strategic
customers and partners.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication
and rapid problem resolution.
Resource Allocation
- Ensure effective allocation of budgeted resources.
- Monitor and control budgeted expenses.
- Assure activity and expense alignment.
Performance Assessment, Reporting, and Response
- Regularly measure sales performance data and report results to
leadership.
- Be excited about data interpretation and respond
decisively.
- Present market trends, competitive activities, and
opportunities to lead improvement and support investment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related
field. MBA is a plus.
- Successful sales strategy implementation record. Building
product experience is a plus.
- Senior sales management and field sales experience. National
scale is a plus.
- Proven sales, leadership, and team management skills.
Multi-level experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal
skills.
- Proven strategic thinker with comprehensive analytical and CRM
skills.
- Functional knowledge of market dynamics, trends, and
technologies.
- Excellent analytical, computer, presentation, and collaboration
tool skills.
- A personality that is insightful, competitive,
forward-thinking, and persistently curious.
- Integrity-centered, naturally collaborative, and inherently net
positive personal values.
