Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Produce Department Supervisor to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a Produce Department Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting with the scheduling and supervision of Team Members, as well as the day-to-day flow of the department. You will be tasked with overseeing and maintaining compelling produce displays, supporting the Produce Team Leader and Associate Team Leader(s) to ensure smooth operation of the Produce Team, and providing exceptional customer service to customers and Team Members at all times.Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Produce Team Members to ensure efficient and effective department operations.
  • Works with Produce Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  • Assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials to ensure a thorough understanding of department procedures and policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized department, ensuring all cases and shelves are stocked and properly rotated.
  • Opens and closes department according to established procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition for Team Members.
  • Ensures all necessary breaks are given to Team Members, promoting a positive and healthy work environment.
  • Communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader, ensuring open and transparent communication within the department.
  • Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution, ensuring a positive customer experience and driving sales growth.
  • Fosters a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale, promoting a healthy and productive work environment.
  • Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, supporting the growth and development of Team Members.Required Skills and Experience
    • Extensive knowledge of Produce team procedures and policies, ensuring a thorough understanding of department operations and procedures.
    • Strong demonstrated organizational and time management skills, ensuring efficient and effective department operations.
    • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills, promoting a positive and healthy work environment.
    • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner, supporting the growth and development of Team Members.
    • Product knowledge, ensuring a thorough understanding of produce products and ability to effectively communicate with customers.
    • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
    • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
    • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate, ensuring efficient and effective department operations.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
      • Lift up to 50 pounds to move merchandise and equipment.
      • Stand for up to 8 hours per day, with frequent walking and moving throughout the department.
      • Use hands to grasp, manipulate, and push/pull objects, including boxes and equipment.
      • Perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching to move merchandise and equipment.
      • Exposed to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
      • Exposed to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
      • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
      • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
      • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
